Do you need it in a certain language?

For some reason I haven’t included it here on my site at all but there is three DVD releases of it that I know of.

It exists in Germany under the title Zeig mir das Spielzeug des Todes but the disc is severely cut with the film being only around 75 minutes long. This disc has only German audio. Amazon.de

Then there is a French disc with only French (and perhaps Italian audio although Amazon doesn’t mention it) audio but the version is 90 minutes long. Title of the disc is Le Jour du jugement. Amazon.fr

And finally there is an Italian disc with Italian audio but not sure about the length of this one. For some reason I couldn’t find it at Italian Amazon. But here is one store with the disc http://videociak.net/customer/product.php?productid=13213&cat=&page=1&more_pages=

I’m only guessing here but the French disc may be superior in picture quality compared to the other two.

It looks like 01′s reissues of the Dario Argento discs from Medusa. Whereas the Medusas had English and Italian tracks and English and Italian subtitles and were 16:9, the 01 reissues were Italian only, 4:3 letterbox and the scope titles were cropped to about 1.85:1.

You may be right. The work on the English-friendly 01 discs of the I.I.F. Fulvio Lucisano titles (TERRORE NELLO SPAZIO, COSA AVETE FATTO A SOLANGE?, MEDAGLIONE INSANGUINATO, etc) may have been done by another company and 01 just did the distributing.

I suppose it is possible, I have no idea how BBFC treats the different medias (and who knows how Eureka provided their submission), but like I mentioned, the version submitted being in 24fps would make it about the same as the old PAL VHS release and it would seem logical it is the same version. Of course there could be some extra minutes somewhere (logos and I can’t remember if the film ends with a blackness with just music playing which could be cut from VHS… or something).

Anyways, according to a member (who had emailed Eureka about this) at the spaghetti western database forums, Eureka has been made aware of the different versions and have apparently delayed the release for a couple of months, trying to acquire material for the longer one.

When the BBFC classify something as “video” it’s always (in my experience, anyway) a PAL running time, so that 93min version just classified could well run c.97-98m on Blu-ray at 24fps. Still clearly less than 107 minutes though!

You may be right about the TV-screenings.
There is a Rai Cinema logo in the back cover as well so I guess they are behind all this evil doing. I guess 01 Distribution (like their name says…) just distributes all this crap (and some of the good stuff) other companies put out.

Thanks. I think the H&W-disc also has the right aspect ratio, but unfortunately it’s not available in online stores…it’s really difficult to get that movie in the correct format and uncut.

I guess these movies were primary restored for TV-screenings and only afterwards released on DVD, that would explain why the picture is cropped.

Sure, it is 1:30:04 which makes it over 9 minutes longer than the Spanish disc. Unfortunately also cropped to 1.85:1.

I’m not sure if you know but there is an earlier Italian disc by H&W which is apparently in the correct 2.35:1 aspect ratio and also much longer than the Spanish disc but I’m not sure how long it actually is?
