Sergio Corbucci’s Il grande silenzio aka the Great Silence seems to be coming to Blu-Ray (from German company Kinowelt) as it is now available for pre-order at Amazon.de under the title Leichen pflastern seinen Weg. Release date is 21st of October 2010.
Kinowelt’s earlier DVD releases of the Great Silence don’t have English audio or subtitles, but hopefully they can include them with the Blu-Ray.
EDIT: It seems the release date has been pushed back into February 2011. No idea why.
EDIT: And now the disc has no release date listed at Amazon.de. :s
There have been some discussion (in French which I don’t understand so I might be wrong… ) about the quality of the latest Seven7 releases from France being not what they were advertised as (remastered, with French and Italian audio) even perhaps being copies of the Evidis/Fravidis(?) discs of the same movies that have been around for a couple of years. Well, I just received the Ciak Mull and Django le batard discs and as far as Ciak Mull goes it is in fact different transfer (and now it is anamorphic!) than the previous disc BUT does only have French audio and no subtitles. Meaning Amazon.fr is wrong about it having French and English audio (of course I was certain they were wrong) and so is Seven7′s own webpage which still claims the disc to have Italian audio included.

Probably won’t be much news anymore to most but the Spaghetti Western Collection Blu-Ray featuring Sergio Leone’s A Fistful of Dollars, For a Few Dollars More and the Good, the Bad and the Ugly is now available for pre-order at Amazon.co.uk with a release date of 7th June 2010.
No details yet on the contents of the release (or perhaps I just didn’t find any), except for the movies included, or possible quality of the transfers but…

The Italian company MHE has just released The Good, the Bad and the Ugly on both DVD and Blu-Ray. The DVD is a special edition with small book/let included while that is missing from the Blu-Ray edition. MHE has released the movie previously couple of years ago as a very simple edition which left hoping for more. As far as I can tell this is from a new restoration of some sort… at least I hope so. The MGM Blu-Rays aren’t as good as I hoped they would be, so I’m really hoping this will be better.
Unfortunately according to Kultmedia and Videociak the discs have only one Italian track and nothing more. I realize DVD.it claims the Blu-Ray to have English audio but they also claim the aspect ratio to be 1.78:1 which can’t be correct so…
Anyways, I should have the discs (yes, both…) early next week and hopefully can put up some kind of comparison soon after that.
Sergio Leone’s Il buono, il brutto, il cattivo aka The Good, the Bad and the Ugly has finally been released on Blu-Ray. French disc has been available for over a week now and the German disc has just been released. I suspect they are both exactly the same and the US disc which will be released on 12th of May will most likely be the same. DVDBeaver has screenshots from the French disc and unfortunately it doesn’t look as good as I hoped it would be. Still captures won’t tell everything, but…
I hope this will get a release in Italy with a different transfer (other countries will probably use this same MGM transfer?).
And where are mono soundtracks?
Anyways, you can buy the disc from either Amazon.fr or Amazon.de. Or pre-order it from Amazon.com
It seems DVD Drive-In is the first(?) site to publish a review of the new Navajo Joe disc. Anamorphic 2.35:1 image with English audio track. Three subtitles (English, Spanish, French) are provided. No extras.
Read the review here http://www.dvddrive-in.com/reviews/n-s/navajojoe66.htm
The official release date is actually 13th of May, but DVDPacific has shipped my pre-order today. Don’t know if you can find the disc from any stores yet, but if you do get it, please let me know about the quality and aspect ratios (few good screenshots wouldn’t hurt either ).
Wild East’s website has A Long Ride From Hell up as their next release. No release date is given as usual.
Theatrical version in its original aspect ratio: 1:85. English language
Interview with Mimmo Palmero aka Dick Palmer
It also seems their Kill Them All And Come Back Alone disc is finally available.
Order directly from Wild East or (pre)order from Amazon.com
It’ll probably be a while before I get my hands on it, so whenever someone manages to get the disc, I’d really appreciate some comments about the disc please.
Just noticed the next spaghetti western release from the German company NEW will be Reverendo Colt (1971). According to tele movie shop the release will come with three different cover options (one limited) and will include English audio. Release date 31.03.2008.
Another news is some sort of spaghetti book called Spagetti-Heroes – Django – Sartana – Ringo listed at DTM.at. 4 different cover options (all limited) and the book comes with a DVD which seems to have the films A Gun for One Hundred Graves and Vengeance. Don’t know what versions, but I suspect it might be the same disc that X-Rated have released earlier. Release date 31.3.2008.
Great news! According to DVDSavant Sergio Corbucci’s Navajo Joe will be released for Region 1 in 13th of May 2008.
Pre-order it from Amazon.com at a very low price of $9.99.
Now how about that Mercenary?
